Growing our learning and play spaces

In 2024 we proudly upgraded our 5/6 area and introduced a purpose-built STEM lab to our school. At the heart of the design is our magnificent Manna Gum tree, one of the most iconic features of our grounds. This tree is deeply significant to both the local area and our school community, and it has inspired our new branding as well as the colours and styling of our buildings. The project also created new opportunities for outdoor learning, with a dedicated garden of Indigenous plants providing a beautiful and meaningful space for students.

Alongside these upgrades, our existing classrooms and foyer received a much needed facelift, making them light, open and welcoming.

We invite you to come and see our wonderful new spaces.

Wellbeing spaces

At WNPS we have dedicated spaces designed to support the wellbeing of all students.

A cozy room with natural light. Features a round table with blue chairs, a wooden cabinet, a window with a view, and a soft rug on a wooden floor.

Break out space

Our breakout space is a quiet, calming area open to all students who may feel overwhelmed during the day. It also provides a supportive setting for students to meet with our school counsellor, Nadia.

Bright office and learning space at Watsonia North Primary School with desks, seating, and large windows.

Wellbeing Space

This space is used for specialist sessions delivered by external providers. Families are able to access these services within the school, giving students extra support in a familiar and safe environment.

These spaces are part of our commitment to ensuring every child feels cared for, supported and ready to learn.

Outside Spaces

Play and connection are an important part of every child’s school day. Our school grounds include a dedicated Prep to Year 2 playground designed for our youngest learners, downball and four square courts, a full-size basketball court, AFL football and soccer goals as well as yarning circles, tables and seating for students to eat, chat and relax.

Friendship Tree

Our Friendship Tree is a warm and welcoming space in our yard. Children know they can come to the tree if they are looking for someone to play with or would like some company. It is a simple way for students to connect with others, make new friends and feel included in play.

The tree has become a special symbol of kindness and belonging in our school community.

Learning Spaces

Our learning environments are bright, spacious and welcoming, with abundant natural light and colourful accents that create a sense of warmth and energy. Each classroom is designed to support collaboration, creativity and focused learning, with flexible furniture that can be adapted for individual, small group or whole-class activities.
