Learning Support Programs

Literacy Intervention Program

At our school, we know that some students need extra support at different times in their learning journey. To help with this, we run a special intervention program that is funded through resources set aside for students identified as needing additional support based on NAPLAN results from the previous year.

This program provides students with the right kind of help to meet their needs. For some, this may mean learning in a different way through an alternative program, while others take part in small-group intervention classes.

Students in the intervention program usually attend for five weeks. During this time, they work closely with their teacher to clear up any misconceptions and strengthen key skills. After the program, they return to their regular classroom to put their new learning into practice. If needed, students may move in and out of the program throughout the year so they can get the support they need while still being part of their home class.

Our aim is to provide the right help at the right time, giving students the confidence and skills to thrive in their learning.

English as an Additional Language Program

At our school, we value the rich cultural and language backgrounds that our students bring to the classroom. For students who are learning English as an additional language (EAL), we provide targeted support to help them build confidence and succeed in both their learning and social interactions.

Our EAL Program is designed to:

  • support students in developing their English language skills in reading, writing, speaking, and listening
  • provide small-group sessions tailored to students’ individual needs
  • help students access the curriculum while building their English proficiency
  • encourage students to maintain and celebrate their home language and culture alongside learning English

Students may attend the program for a set period of time or on an ongoing basis, depending on their progress and individual learning needs. We work closely with classroom teachers to ensure that students can apply their English learning across all areas of the curriculum and stay connected with their peers in the classroom.

Our goal is to ensure that every EAL student feels supported, included, and confident in their learning journey.
