Our School

Celebrating 50 Years and Beyond

Established in 1971, our school has proudly served the community for over 50 years. We’re fortunate to be located in a safe, welcoming residential suburb, where many families have deep roots—some parents even attended Watsonia North themselves! As we look ahead to the next 50 years, we celebrate the rich diversity of our community, our strong academic focus, and our commitment to nurturing students through a values-based approach to health and wellbeing.

Meet the Principal

I’m Sarah Pollnitz, and I have been working at Watsonia North Primary School for 11 years. When I started here, I took on the role as a Year 3/4 teacher, leader and Assessment and Reporting Leading Teacher. Over my journey here, I have had the privilege of serving in various capacities including; Literacy Support, Teaching and Learning Leading Teacher, Assistant Principal, and School Improvement Team Leader.

One of the most rewarding aspects about being the Principal in such a vibrant learning community is knowing that, whether it’s me or someone else in this role, this school’s culture of lifelong learning is strong. This foundation empowers our staff to embrace new challenges with professionalism and dedication. While I may be the Principal today, I am confident that our school will continue to thrive as a shining example of excellence in education for all children regardless of who is Principal. To me that is a measure of whether a school is who they say they are or not.

Our Mission and Values

Our mission is to enhance learning opportunities for every child, so that they may build on foundational learning that supports their growth and development throughout their lives.

Over the past 12 months we have been working with our school community to re-establish core values that unpin our learning focus. Our School Values for 2025 and beyond are:

Respect – Kindness – Persistence

Respect

Listening and using kind words. Following the rules, telling the truth and treating others the way we want to be treated. We look after our school, community and ourselves in all that we do.

Kindness

Sharing and including people in what we are doing. Helping when someone needs it and using kind and thoughtful words fill other peoples buckets. Try giving a nice smile or saying “Hi” to someone new.

Persistence

Keep going when tasks take a long time or get hard. Finding other ways to solve problems and take small steps toward big goals. Always celebrate the effort and progress along the way.

Meet the Team

Many of our staff have been part of Watsonia North for a long time, which speaks to the strong, positive culture we’ve built together. Our team enjoys working collaboratively—not only with each other, but also with our wider school community—creating a supportive and connected environment for everyone.
